when my parents and brother were here we had a trip to Beamish museum. it is a fab place and recreates life, shops, houses from 1913. they have a bus and tram to travel from one part to another. it was very cold but we all had a great time. the boys loved it - especially the sweet shop! we bought a season ticket so will definately be going back.
